Singapore Straits Times Index - Sellers Commanding Market

From morning till now, there was a short rebound and then followed by more sellers selling down the market as predicted early in the morning @ 8.39am.

I am particularly happy to see that some who did not even came for my course yet which started shorting based on my morning outlook yesterday and is now still riding the short trades with $$. That's a testament on my speculation skills and foresight on my prediction to what we witnessed in STI now. Great work, more good outlooks, more $$.

GS Holding - Owner's Stock

Looking at how GS Holdings behave in their trading activity, it seemed as though the operators had started it's first round of buying with mini depression of prices. Looking at the buy/sell Q, it revealed more information about the liquidity of the stock and more importantly, it tells me that this is an owners' stock.

During my sharing session yesterday, I shared a lot on this trick on how to use simple numbers to determine whether a stock is a good or bad stock without reading any reports or technicals. Today GS holdings showed yet another classic example of what I shared yesterday. In the near term, I am watching this counter closely. Price is importantly but timing is the key and holy grail towards a IPO stock.

STI - See These Signals Before It Rebound

As of now, STI as predicted, the sellers came in to sell down the market and many stocks are pretty oversold with price dipping.

However if one were to do any shorting, it must not be swing for too long because the market is oversold and a rebound may happen anytime. 2 signs you need to watch before a rebound happens.
  1. A heavy flush down with a long bar
  2. A panic sell down heavy a huge gap down

I am watching for these signals before taking a position.

Singapore Straits Times Index - More Sell Down

Yesterday I posted in my private forum that the market would meet with sellers and it's not a good day to long. Indeed, so many counters started tumbling down and in fact I also posted the bearishness in Jumbo where I mentioned that in the short term it would meet with sellers.

http://stockmarketmindgames.blogspot.sg/2016/01/jumbo-sellers-set-in.html

Today I expect more selling from the market and STI could be due for a new low to come in the short term. This is going to be a volatile market and get ready your CFD account and start making $$ with me. If you want to make $500-$1000 a day trading small positions, this is the time to do it. I will reveal more strategies on how to do so, so please pay attention when you come for the workshop.

Jumbo - Sellers Set In

Jumbo met with sellers with my outlook posted in my private forum at 8:36am in the morning. From 0.475 to now 0.455, jumbo sellers were looking to lock in $$. The market went up in the morning to only met with sellers and now the whole market is overtly sourish. I will be sharing more stocks on Thursday. I was sharing the controlled stocks vs the floating shares today, it was a good turnout and good knowledge imparted.

Jumbo - Short Term Selling

In the near short term, I expect some selling in Jumbo. Looking at how the operators play this counter at the moment, it seemed as though there was some profit taking followed by distribution going on. Timing is crucial to short it and hence I am still gunning for the right moment. Price is not important in my trading plan and it will never be because that's what most people are using. So in order do this trade correctly, I would need to watch the Q numbers. Watching it now.

Investment Strategy for 2016

2016 is expected to be another tough year for investors, according to most analysts out there. With most bad news out there and expected lower corporate earnings for most S'pore listed companies plus lower GDP growth in S'pore, I do agree that it will be another rough year for investors. We have already endured a roller-coaster ride last year but be prepared to tighten your seat belts for another tough ride this year. As usual, stock picking becomes a crucial factor in this kind of market, and therefore I have identified some themes in 2016 that investors can take note of and hopefully pick some stocks that fit into these themes which can enhance your portfolio returns.

1. Transformation of public transport to bus contracting model. Already, LTA had started competitive tendering and awarded some contracts. I expect 2016 to be a transformative year as LTA continues to take over existing contracts to purchase buses and assets from transport operators. SBS Transit is expected to be the main player for this theme though ComfortDelgro as a whole and also SMRT should benefit as well.

2. Raising interest rate. We have seen some of the effects of this theme after Fed raises interest rate last December. REITs are expected to get hit from this theme but selected finance related stocks might benefit from the interest rate spread that they earn from raising interest rate.

3. Delisting and M&A. To play this theme, one have to identify companies which are being acquired or no longer needs the capital market. For delisting, I think it is worth looking at the s-chips space. I know that s-chips are not in favour now but there are a few delisting deals last year in this space and I expect more to come this year. Do look out for those s-chips which had been listed for many years and had not paid dividends for a long time and trading at depressed valuations with low or no volume being transacted everyday.

4. Market mis-pricing due to share consolidation. We have seen some of those stocks that had experienced high volatility after share consolidation. In fact, there are some stocks which had been mispriced immediately after consolidation and one can take advantage of this if he/she is sharp enough to acquire those stocks before they revert back to normal levels. With the deadline looming for stocks trading under 20cts in the MainBoard for the MTP requirement, they will have to consolidate or move to Catalist to avoid being on the SGX watchlist. Expect more share consolidations this year.

5. Commodity prices. It is difficult to play this theme as commodity prices had been very volatile in 2015. I have no idea whether commodity prices will recover this year or continue to go lower. Same for oil price and gold. Therefore, it is best to give this theme a miss unless you have the crystal ball to predict. I certainly do not have it. But for those who have the appetite for it, the pay off could be substantial if you made the right call.

As for my portfolio strategy, it will be as usual as per 2015. I will continue to:
1. Look for deep value stocks and overweight them.
2. Reduce/Eliminate underperforming and overvalued stocks.
3. Reduce the number of AGMs, EGMs etc.
4. Keep healthy.
5. The usuals.

Have a profitable 2016!
